Challenge:

Our client's industry is relatively new and experiencing a high level of consolidation due to changes in regulations that govern ownership and operation by large REITs.  At the same time the technology industry is responding to this growth by rolling out industry-specific technologies while the bigger industry leaders are investing in new technologies and improving their processes and capabilities.  These and other factors are putting downward pressure on management fee percentages, thus reducing revenues.

All the while this is occurring, regulatory agencies are requiring additional data and recent legal cases are increasing the need for robust risk management.  Additionally, clients of this service provider are also expecting a higher level of service and technology than has ever before been provided.

To respond, our client and their competition are being forced to invest and reengineer the way they do business to reduce costs and to remain competitive.

Solution:

We were hired to assess the client’s process efficiency and technology capability across 50+ locations in 6 states.  At the conclusion of the Assessment engagement,  we presented our findings and recommendations to the executive team.  The recommendations called for a transformation of the company's approach to back end processes, reengineering their approach to technology management and significant investment in new systems.

Over the next ten months, the client's executive team used the findings and recommendations to complete a competitive survey. Once completed, the client returned to us to help them lead a transformation initiative.  We brought together a few of our most nimble consultants to lead the program, provide consulting services and manage a set of projects.  The scope of the engagement included:
